Comparative Tests On "Armourplate" And Ordinary Plate Glass

"Armourplate" is a safety glass made by subjecting ordinary polished plate glass to a patented toughening process which results in a glass of greatly increased mechanical strength and much more resistant to large and sudden changes of temperature. When broken, it disintigrates into small pieces which do not have the dangerous cutting edges of ordinary glass. The glass submitted for test by the National Physical Laboratory Engineering Department consisted of two types: Plate glass and "Armourplate" glass. The tests and results are reported in this booklet.
