Thermal and coating equipment specialist Vidromecanica recently presented its new equipment for cold-end coating of glass containers by spraying above the conveyor belt. At Glassman Europe 99 in Lyon, the Portuguese company displayed the fully automatic machinery which sprays glass containers with a dilute polyethylene wax emulsion. An external coating with good slip properties is thus created on the glass container. Vidromecanica says features of the equipment include a portal frame and a bridge with traverse sliding guides for the spray gun trolley, which can also be moved lengthwise in order to compensate belt motion. These traverse and lengthwise motions are made by a DEW motor reudcer with position control and are automatically synchronized according to the belt speed. The spraying between rows is very precise.
