Coca-Cola Using Less Packaging

Coca-Cola Enterprises (CCE) recently said it is using 27% less packaging than in 2007 as it continues to achieve its sustainability targets. Its latest sustainability update, released June 2014, showed that the brand used around 178,000/tonnes of packaging, including glass, aluminium and PET plastic, as well as secondary packaging for transportation of its products. Almost half the plastic bottles in the UK (47%) are being reprocessed as a result of the company's Continuum Recycling joint venture iwth ECO Plastics. Packaging materials represents nearly 52% of the carbon emissions across CCE's value chain, and the company said it is working to reduce its carbon footprint by using more sustainable packs.
