Coca-Cola Opens Kabul Plant

Afghanistan's President, Hamid Karazai, recently inaugurated a new Coca-Cola bottling plant in Kabul. The plant attracted investment of around 19.5M/Euros and is set on a 60,000 sq/m plot. The President described the investment as "An important step forward to economic growth, self sufficiency, and better future of Afghanistan." The bottling plant investment in Afghanistan is based on a 100% franchising agreement with the locally owned bottling company. Both PET and returnable glass bottle production lines have been installed and are operational. "Afghanistan is a country promising a lot of growth opportunity for our business," stated Rizwan Khan, Manager for Pakistan and Afghanistan. "The fast growth rates we have observed in recent years are a clear indication of the potential & our sales volumes in the country are improving steadily."
