Coca-Cola Contour Bottle Loses Weight

UK-based Coca-Cola Enterprises Ltd (CCE) has reduced the weight of the glass "contour" bottle by 20% to make them more environmentally friendly. Coca-Cola, Diet Coke & Coke Zero glass bottles will be made in the lighter-weight format from now on. The 330ml bottle is 13mm shorter and 0.1mm wider than the original design & the weight of the bottles has been reduced from 263g to 210g each. The contour bottle was first developed in 1916. The company said converting to the lighter packaging would cut its raw glass usage by around 3,500/t and CO2 emissions by 2,200/tpa.
