With Schott's PICVD process, Carl Zeiss is on the verge of a breakthrough in the coating of plastic lenses for eyeglasses. An anti-reflective coating, a hard coating and an easy care coating can be applied in a single operaiton. In addition, one-stage coating makes flexible production on prescription a possibility. The new procedure is to be tested in the German market.
