Co-Operation In China

Schott has concluded an agreement with ACBC, the largest TV glass manufacturer in the People's Republic of China (with annual sales of around DM480m in 1998), for production of maxi-format television screens in China. Over the next 6 years, as many as 3m 29" glass screens are to be manufactured annually for the Chinese market using Schott technology. Schott will also be supplying the relevant funnels to China. In this way, Schott is further expanding its activities in Asia. The co-operative venture also involves ACBC supplying small screens to Schott, which will then be fitted to Schott TV funnels in Germany and the Czech Republic and marketed as sets to TV tube makers in Europe and NAFTA member states.
