Climate Control Glass To Cut Bills

German glass company Glas Wagener has launched Solarlux microsolar in the UK, which it said would cut energy bills in buildings. Solarlux uses micro lamella layers of transparent steel in the glass which let sunlight in when it is needed but keeps heat out in the summer months. According to the company, it has been used in projects throughout Europe such as the Naestved Swimming Stadium in Denmark. The building saw heat inflow in summer and heat loss in winter reduced by 60%. The layers of steel in the glass are positioned so they reflect sun infiltration from high angles but allow sunlight from low angles to pass through the glass relatively unimpeded.
