Climate Change: Consultation On Phase Ii Of The Euets

Defra launched a consultation on Phase II of the EU Emissions Trading Scheme to cover the years 2008-2010. Part of the consultation covers potential expansion options, but the food and drink sector is not currently one of those identified as potential candidates for expansion of the scheme. However, combustion installations designed specifically for energy production are in Phase 1 of the scheme, and Defra is considering, for Phase II, widening the definition of combustion installation,to include combustion installations whether designed specifically for energy production or not. This would bring many food and drink installations within the scope of Phase II of the scheme.
