Cleaning Moulds With Ultrasound

Ecotecne, in collaboration with Henkel, have developed a proprietary system for high cavitation, ultrasonic-assisted, chemical cleaning of glass moulds - the SC7 Light. According to the Italian manufacturer, the cleaning process offers a faster micro-cleaning/molecular process compared to traditional sand blasting systems. The process is achieved by means of submersion in ultrasonic tanks that contain alkaline and acid solutions, powered by very strong cavitation. The cleaning effect is a combination of both chemical and mechanical action involving immerging the mould-loaded trolley into tanks according to a pre-regulated work cycle that includes alkaline pre-washing at about 85 deg C, acid treatment, alkaline with U/S treatment, passivation, can be repeated every 15-17 minutes, is controlled by a PLC, and exploits robot-controlled handling systems.
