Scotland has turned its focus to food waste in recent months with environmental secretary Richard Lockhead's announcement of a reduction target and an impending requirement on more companies to collect the material separately. From the start of 2016, any business site in the country producing more than 5kg food waste/week will be required to provide a separate collection. The current threshold is 50kg. The law is expected to increase dramatically the number of qualifying businesses, and ZWS (Zero Waste Scotland) has a key part in raising awareness, as described in this article.
