Demaglass, whose trademark is most often seen through brown liquid at the bottom of pint glasses in pubs, is slaking its thirst for growth capital with a £5.5m burst of cash. The company has earmarked the money for marketing abroad and product development at home. Demaglass has grown fast since its 1994 managment buyout from Osram and Thorn EMI, following which it embarked on a £27.4m capital spending programme and "consolidation of manufacturing sites". Now the Leeds office of private equity 3i is putting up £3.1m alongside £2.4m from PPM Ventures.
