Canadian Closure

A Canadian facility that prepares about 70% of Quebec's glass for recycling is closing down, and the company's management says it is not sure where the glass will end up. Klareco processes more than 100,000 tonnes of glass in Quebec each year and sends most of it to the USA, where it is used to make insulation. "We've been losing money for the last few years," said Vice President of Klareco, Johnny Izzi. He said it would have been difficult to invest between $10-12M to build a new plant which was needed.
