[Canada] Oi: Plant Purchase Considered By Vancouver Investors

A group of businessmen have an accepted conditional offer to purchase the former Owens-Illinois (O-I) glass plant in Lavington, British Columbia, Canada, and plans are moving ahead to resurrect the high-profile industrial site. The agreement to purchase, however, remains tentative and the prospective buyers are still determining if something viable can be done there. If the sale proceeds, it could be concluded by late June. Officials at O-I's headquarters in Ohio are saying little about negotiations. The plant, which was closed in 2008, after 39 years of operation, has been listed at US$9.7M and covers 91.74 acres, including a 11,296-square-foot office building, a 148,340-square-foot factory and a 274,560-square-foot warehouse. Changes to the buildings or subdivision of the property would require municipal approval.
