Building On Success

Container glass manufacturer Allied Glass has recently rebuilt and successfully commissioned the furnace at its Leeds site. This article explains the history of the company, as well as its outlook for the future This event marked the successful completion of the first stage of a new investment programme, signalling the company's confidence for the future. Since its creation in 2000, Allied has grown considerably; its annual turnover is now over £70m. Originally formed by the merger of sister companies Lax & Shaw and Gregg & Co, Allied is a company proud of its roots, but also astutely aware of the demands and realities of working with in a global industry. At the Leeds site the company have two furnaces with a combined maximum capacity of 550/tpd, serving 9 machines.
