Bubbling Laws In A Glass Furnace

Bubblers are commonly used in glass furnaces in order to enhance convective motions. Despite extensive studies, bubble formation from an orifice has not been described by a single law. Usually, the formed bubble volume depends at least on two parameters: the viscosity and the gas flow rate in dimensionless form. By reconsidering available models,a single parameter law to describe bubble formation for different gas flow rates and fluids has been derived. Two regimes appear, namely the viscous and internal regimes, depending on the value of this parameter.
