Brewer Tackles Glass Packaging Waste

Beer producer Adnams is aiming to reduce its impact on glass packaging waste by over 500/tpa, with the launch of a new lightweight beer bottle. The company has teamed up with glassmaker OI to develop a 500ml amber design, which OI claims is 100g lighter than equivalent beer bottles.. Using technology known as narrow neck press and blow, which uses plungers instead of air to mould the glass, OI says it has more control over the bottle making process, allowing it to reduce 450g bottles to under 300g in weight.
