France's Ministry of Economy and Finance has submitted a notification to the European Commission on its plans for health warnings regarding bisphenol A (BPA) in food contact applications. The ban, which it intends to enforce from 1 October 2013, covers packaging containing BPA, intended to enter into direct contact with foodstuffs intended for children under three, and pregnant or breastfeeding women. From this date, products containing BPA must display the warning: '[Packaging] made using bisphenol A. Use not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women or for children under three.'
