Boron, Borates And Borosilicate Glasses: Parts 1 And 2

Boron is a very important element that makes a range of interesting chemicals and a variety of compounds. In teh form of boron trioxide, it is incorporated into silica to make borosilicate glasses that have a wide range of applications from high tech to domestic usage. In the first part of this article, some interesting applications will be described after giving a brief historical background on boron and its compounds. In Part two of this article, some of the newer applications of borosilicate glass will be considered.
