Bormioli Rocco Cuts Jobs At French Plant

The Bormioli Rocco glass factory at Masnieres, near Cambrai, France, has cut 223 jobs out of a total of 650. The union representative claimed part of the plant's activity was to be transferred to Italy and five of the 11 production lines closed. The plant supplies the pharmaceuticals and perfumes sectors. According to a press report, Colette Dessaint, mayor of Masnieres, was admitted to hospital on 8 June after being on a hunger strike for 17 days in protest against the redundancies.
