Boots has called on Stölzle Glass Group (STO) to supply a new range of custom-moulded bottles to package its No 7 Speed Dry nail varnish. Boots designed the bottle, which STO then fine-tuned to ensure efficient production & "the highest quality." The standard bottles had to be modified slightly to ensure they were the best shape to be printed on STO's automatic Kammann machines. "STO offers Boots competitive pricing, speed & consistency of production combined with high quality," Mark Devonald Smith, Stölzle's group director for perfumery & personal care said. Using STO also provides Boots increased flexibility. Mr Smith added: "STO holds an agreed buffer stock of bottles for up to six months for instant printing & delivery, enabling Boots to respond to promotional activity & marketing forecasts." The bottles are being produced at Stölzle's factory in Köflach, Austria. The company specialises in the production of small bottles that are produced in large cavity machines in high volumes, which allows the firm to price them competitively. The Köflach plant operates eight- and 10-section machines with double and triple gobs on lines dedicated to nail polish and smaller standard bottles to package products such as air-freshener oils. Stölzle Glass Group has five production sites, including STO-Flaconnage in Knottingley, West Yorkshire. It produces custom-moulded nail varnish bottles for a variety of brands, including Swedish cosmetics firm Oriflame's Vision range.
