Beatson Clark has installed a new oxy-boost system on the furnace at its factory in Barnsley as part of its £12M investment programme at the site. The booster replaces air with oxygen to make the furnace burn quicker and can give 15% extra pull. The firm is also buying two new IS machines, extra metal detectors, and plans to upgrade and replace packaging machines and palletisers. It has, meanwhile, appointed Steve Broomhead as its head of quality. Mr Broomhead was previously operations manager with Rexam Glass.
