Bgrc Admits Surplus

Local authorities and other collectors of green glass who supply cullet to the British Glass Recycling Company are facing cuts in the price they receive for their cullet of £12/tonne. In a three-pronged approach to the cullet market, BGRC, which is the largest buyer of cullet, is reducing the amount paid to its non-contracted suppliers by £12/tonne from July 1. These businesses and councils will then receive from £5-11/tonne depending on location. Contracted suppliers with an option to renew this year are not being allowed to do so and will be hit by the £12 reductions from July 1. A third sector of suppliers, who have contracts with an option to extend coming up over the next 3 years are also being contacted, with a view to reducing the amount they are paid.
