The resurgence of interest in vermouth has not gone unnoticed. Diageo has launched Belsazar (16-18% abv), which it describes as a wine aperitif made from grapes selected from regions in southern Baden, Germany. Belsazar is infused with herbs and is finished with a dash of fruit brandy. It is then aged up to three months, allowing it to develop a range of aromas. There are five varieties: White, Red, Dry, Rose and the limited Riesling edition.
