Operating in the competitive market for patterned glass, Glaverbel has decided to reconfigure its manufacturing facilities to bring its production into line with the changing demand. This will involve shutting down one of the two furnaces in Barevka (CZ) and repairing the furnace in Roux (BE) during the course of 2006/7. Demand for patterned glass increasingly focuses on speciality products, large dimensions or low prices. All these developments call for changes in the types of production. It has become essential to reconfigure the production facilities so as to keep the two sites competitive and ensure the viability of their activities. This involves: Shutting down in July 2004 one of the two furnaces at Barevka for repair; Transferring some equipment, thus freed up at Barevka and installing it on the Roux furnace, to produce larger volumes.
