Belarus Bids To Become Major Glass Producer

Alexander Lukashenko, President of Belarus said the eastern European country can become a major glass producer for all segments of the industry. He said the country's 8M/sq.m deposit of quartz sand is the key to successful modernisation of the glass industry. Most of the glass made would be exported, he added, also commenting that the expansion of the resource base for the industry should happen sooner, rather than later. "We have the reserves to increase the production of all kinds of glass and increase exports of these products. Today, our country is one big building. We have all the necessary resources, we now just need to modernise."
