Barosa Invest In Marinha Grande

Portuguese glass manufacturer Santos Barosa plans to invest EUR 26M in the renovation of one of the four furnaces in its plant in Marinha Grande, central Portugal, it was reported on 29 January 2003. The company plans to renovate the remaining three furnaces in the Marinha Grande plant between 2005 and 2007, company president Pedro Barosa said. However, the capacity of the plant will not rise significantly, Barosa added. Santos Barosa, which is the second largest glass manufacturer in Portugal, generated a turnover of EUR 66M in 2001. According to a report by the Portuguese glass companies' association, the sector's activity improved for the first six months of 2002, compared to 2001.
