Bangkok Glass Diversifies With New Venture

One of the largest container glass producers in S E Asia, Thailand-based Bankok Glass, announced April 2017 that it is diversifying into the flat glass industry. The BHT 5bn new float glass plant at Prachin Puri is currently under construction and likely to come on-stream by Q3/2017. The 600/tpd plant will produce high quality float, printed and speciality glass. The company said that slowdown and intense competition in the domestic and regional container glass industry prompted Bankok Glass to invest in the flat glass segment. The company partnered with European-based Glass Trosch AG to set up the float plant. Glas Trosch operates around 70 glass processing sites across Europe.
