Ast Helps Nampak Glass To Get Up And Running

Nampak Glass of South Africa, contacted AST Automation, a business unit of the AST Group, to help rebuild the electrical component of its glass furnace. AST was involved in the full project and procurement management of the 54M/rand project, which was initiated in April and is due for completion in October. The furnace melts glass for the production of bottles for beer, soft drinks, juices, wines spirits and food. It burnt down in April, resulting in Nampak losing 45% of its operating capacity and associated revenues. South Africa's glass making industry has no spare capacity and so Nampak needed to find a partner quickly to help rebuild the furnace.
