Asian Cullet Demands Outstrip Supply

As the trend for recycling continues to expand, it has brought about a major change in the application of raw materials in Asia's glass industry during the last decade. As a result, glass manufactures across the continent are now reallocating their priorities to a higher usage of glass cullet in the batch and a reduction in the amount of primary raw materials. This shift is attributed mainly to the upgrading of the production facilities and a growing awareness of the benefits of using the latest technologies. Both the glass container and float glass industries, which together hold the lion's share in glass production, are now seriously planning to expand recycling to a level near to Western countries to reduce production costs through saving money on energy and chemicals.
