Ardagh First-Half Turnover Rises With Rockware Acquisition

Irish glass packaging company, Ardagh Plc., reported a first-half turnover for 2000 almost double that of 1999 and said its performance had been ahead of expectations. Turnover climbed to Euro 151.4m as a result of the acquisition of UK company Rockware in 1999. Pre-tax profit fell sharply to Euro 3.78m (7.96m), due to higher interest payments. Net payable interest rose to Euro 11.4m in the first six months, from 5.1m in the same period of 1999.
