Arc Buys Rak Glass

RAK Glass, a tableware manufacturer based in the UAE, has been taken over the the French multinational glassware manufacturer, Arc International. Arc has bought a majority 80% stake in RAK Glass from RAK Ceramics. The move gives Arc access to markets where it has not previously had a presence, with products made at local prices. RAK Ceramics set up RAK Glass in 1998 to try to exploit the synergies between the ceramic and glass industries, and started producing opal glass. Clear glass production began in 2000. Now, RAK Ceramics has decided to concentrate on ceramics as its core business and chose to sell a majority stake in RAK Glass to Arc.
