Rexam Glass has become one of the largest container manufacturers in Europe, with recent acquisitions in Germany, Poland & Holland. One of the factories that has been in the group for some considerable time is situated at Bad Munder, Germany. A total of 4 furnaces & 9 production lines are operated here. In recent years SORG ST-Series forehearth technology has been applied to lines 3,4,5 & 7. In spring 2004, furnace 3 was repaired & the opportunity was taken to replace the existing line 8 with a new SORG 24'STF43 forehearth. As a result of the maximum pull to 120 t/24h the channel width was increased from 36" to 43". An equalising section electrical booster was also installed to improve thermal homogeneity. SORG equipment for the new line included steel casings & superstructure bracing, the cooling equipment & parts to update the existing gas heating system.
