The successful commissioning of a new, very large SORG E glass furnace for the Jushi Group in China has taken place. Jushi Group Co Ltd is currently the largest producer of E glass fibres on mainland China and a major world supplier. The main facility is based at Tongxiang Zhejiang, near Shanghai, also the site of the new furnace. The company's annual production capacity exceeds 200,000 tons. The furnace, jointly designed by SORG and the Jushi Group, has a maximum melting rate of 205t/d and is one of the largest furnaces for this glass in the world. The design is based on the Unit Melter concept, with burners installed through the sidewalls along the complete length of the furnace. Four screw chargers are installed through the furnace rear wall. They do not require a doghouse and provide a completely enclosed charting environment that helps reduce factory dust.
