The 19th edition of the Annual Packaging Waste Sustainability Forum will take place 20-21 March 2012 in Brussels with the slogan: Moving towards a Resource Efficient Society. The Forum will provide participants with the possibility to: Assess a possible harmonization of the Waste Framework Directive and the Packaging Directive and its impact on the stakeholders; minimize environmental footprint of packaging through taking a holistic approach to product and packaging; examine how packaging collection from out-of-home consumption can contribute to improving recycling results; gain an insight into creating a new packaging recovery system in the Netherlands; analyze how the new Hungarian system can control and encourage the stakeholders; assess optimization of packaging to avoid waste as a part of the Commission's roadmap to resource efficiency; find out how much we should try to recycle and at what cost in a move towards a resource efficient society; evaluate the role of a multinational company in supporting packaging waste recovery and recycling in emerging countries; identify opportunities and challenges in making plastic packaging more sustainable.
