Anchor Glass Increases Quality With Boc Technology

Anchor Glass Container Corp has licensed BOC Group's CGM technology for glass processing at its Warner Robins, Ga., glass container manufacturing plant. The glass quality from Warner Robins' oxy-fuel furnace was improved by the enhanced heat transfer rate that the CGM oxygen combustion technology provides. Steve Hope, BOC vice president, said: "CGM technology delivers a step-change improvement in the melting quality of glass furnaces. It can also can be used to boost capacity or increase yield from an existing furnace, or as the base technology in a new furnace. The CGM system can routinely deliver capacity increases up to 15% and some customers have reported increases over 50%." BOC reports that there are around 25 CGM systems installed worldwide in the glass industry. See: www.boc.com
