Amav Closes

The AMAV factory in Germany has been closed by its US parent group, Lynch Corporation. It made advanced manufacturing systems for the electronic displays and consumer glass industries, and Lynch blames economic uncertainty and the growing popularity of flat panel displays and projection televisions. "They are having a negative impact on the capital spending of our customers who manufacture displays," says Lynch Corporation president and chief operating officer Richard E McGrail. Manufacturing of television glass presses and related products will continue at Lynch Systems facilities in the US state of Georgia. (whole item)
