The launch of beverage products in aluminium bottles designed by CCL Industries, by Snapple Beverage Group, USA and Vincor Int, Canada represents a significant step forward in the acceptance of aluminium bottles for the North American beverage packaging industry. Snapple is packaging its Mistic RE energy drink in a specially designed 14oz resealable aluminium bottle and Vincor has chosen a 500ml straight-walled bottle for its Tabu range of drinks. The bottles combine shelf impact and product differentiation with chill retention. the R & D at CCL has collaborated with a closure manufacturer to develop a combined impact-extruded aluminium bottle with a resealable lug cap of a type previously only used with glass. The lining in the cap ensures a snug vacuum seal with the rim of the container during the cooling process.
