Alan Minto of Allied Glass was awarded the Outstanding Contribution award at the recent British Glass Industry event in Manchester. Mr. Minto is the company’s Production Manager for its Knottingley site, and started working in the glass container industry over 40 years ago. Throughout his career, Alan has been influential in the development of Allied’s manufacturing facility, advancing its Production department from creating standard glass packaging for the food sector into one which aims to produce inspiring and intricate glass packs for the spirit industry. Alan has been described by his colleagues as “a glass industry stalwart with an outstanding knowledge of glass bottle manufacture, a true leader and innovator. “Through his work, Alan has promoted the beauty and flexibility of glass as a packaging material. “He is inspiring, informing and motivating, spending time to mentor the next generation of bottle makers to ensure they have the skills and knowledge necessary to create the industry’s most beautiful glass packaging while maintaining the industry’s professional standing.”
