Air Liquide India To Supply New Float Plant

Air Liquide India, a unit of French industrial & medical gases supplier Air Liquide, has signed a 15-year contract to supply gaseous nitrogen & hydrogen to glass maker Asahi India Glass Ltd, the company said 29/11/05. Air Liquide will supply gaseous nitrogen & hydrogen to the new Asahi India integrated glass plant being built on a green field site at Roorkee in Uttaranchal state, about 170Km N.E Delhi. Nitrogen & hydrogen are used on a continuous basis in float baths during the glass making process to maintain an inert atmosphere. To serve Asahi India Glass & meet the growing needs of the local market, Air Liquide will invest US$20M in a new Air Separation Unit with a capacity of 250/tpd. The new unit will begin in 2006 to supply nitrogen gas by pipeline to Asahi, as well as liquid oxygen, nitrogen & argon to various other customers in northern India.
