Ahlstrom Expanding Production Of Finnish Plant

Ahlstrom has expanded the production capacity of its Mikkeli plant in Finland through a EUR 5M investment. An additional building equipped with new machinery has been built next to the existing plant. The Mikkeli plant manufactures glass fibre products for the composite industry, the major end-users being wind energy, marine, sports equipment and transport vehicle industries. 95% of the plant's production is exported, mainly to the EU. Ahlstrom has significantly increased the production capacity of Mikkeli plant during 2005-6. The expansion, together with improved production efficiency, enables Ahlstrom to further increase production capacity by up to 50% in the next few years.
