[Africa] Zambian Plant To Resume Production

Zambia's Kapiri Glass Manufacturing Company (KGMC) is expected to resume production in Q3 2013 after equipment is installed. KGMC Chairman, Costain Chilala said new machinery for the plant is expected to arrive in the country early in 2013. KGMC has partnered with more than five equipment suppliers from Switzerland, Italy and Germany that specialise in glass making equipment. The new machinery is expected to arrive in the country between April and May 2013. Mr Chilala said once the plant commences production it will create about 600 jobs. KGMC signed a US$8M loan agreement with the PTA Bank to revive the plant. The plant will have an initial production capacity of 75/tpd which will later expand to 100/tpd.
