Adnam'S Picks O-I'S Blue Bottle For Premium Effect

Brewer Adnam's has chosen an unusual blue glass bottle for the launch of a new premium beer in a bid to evoke its coastal heritage. The Spindrift beer has been launched by the Suffolk brewer in a blue bottle with clear film labelling that is intended to create the feel of sea spray. The label features a clear film neck and body graphics showing waves and bursts of sea spray The bottles for the light beer have been produced by O-I's Rinteln plant in Germany, which specialises in producing glass in different colours and, according to the company, is able to produce more than 20 shades of blue. Adnams head of take home Mark Holmes said: "Spindrift is a fresh take on beer and we decided to take a different approach to the packaging. Glass reflects the brands premium positioning and the blue bottle provides the distinctive, highly contemporary feel we wanted."
