Land Combustion has developed acid dewpoint temperature (ADT) monitoring equipment. The company's "Conserver IV" range is designed to measure the temperature of surfaces such as economizers, air pre-heaters, ID fans and stack walls where sulphuric acid is likely to condense. The corrosion of such equipment in the presence of sulphuric acid condensation can lead to the complete shut-down of a plant and costly repair work. Identifying the lowest metal temperature required to minimize or eliminate erosion also allows the operator to reduce the flue gas temperature to within an acceptable margin from this minimum, thus curbing heat loss and enhancing overall efficiency. Two "Conserver IV" ADT monitoring systems are available, the portable Model 220 and the continuous measurement Model 440.
