VSF is, according to BH-F, its manufacturer, a highly accurate, modular system introduced as an alternative to the company's standard, automatic cooling system (which is a single fan, valve and linkage based) and is suitable for all 400 series forehearths and working ends. It offers precise and accurate cooling control over each individual zone by the use of variable speed - variable flow rate fans. When supplied as original equipment the immediate benefit is a much cleaner and simplified superstructure. The other major advantages are improved controllability, fuel savings due to the increase in operational efficiency, greater reliability and a reduction in maintenance costs and down time due to the modular construction of the system's main components. No regular or routine maintenance is required.
