The 2010 British Society of Scientific Glassblowers Symposium will take place from 2-4 September at Marks Tey Hotel. Marks Tey. Colchester. Essex. Colchester is Britain's oldest recorded town & is easy to visit from across the UK & beyond, with a colourful history dating back over 2000y. This year's symposium is a celebration marking the 50th year of the society. Both the delegate & companion programs will include a visit to Colchester Castle where there will be a behind the scenes talk about Roman glass, this is a great opportunity to view & handle glass not on display to the general public. For those not wishing to participate in the talk the castle itself is of great interest with the Magnificent Roman bronze statue of Mercury, the Colchester vase & much more. The evening program for Thursday will include a casual/fancy dress (optional) Roman theme & prize to be awarded, charity auction & more. topped off with a disco. Fridays program to include a cocktail reception, formal dinner, awards and a live band to get you all up on your feet to dance the night away.
