160K-Tonne Cut For Pepsi Packs

PepsiCo is looking to cut around 160,000/t of packaging from its global portfolio by 2012 as part of a raft of health and environmental goals. Chief Executive Indra Nooyi recently announced the "Performance with Purpose" goals that cover areas such as nutritional information, eliminating the diet sale of full-sugar soft drinks to primary & secondary schools and reducing waste to landfill. As well as a commitment to display key nutritional information on its packaging from 2012, the company said it would also, "Rethink the way we grow, source, create, package and deliver our products" and has committed to reducing packaging weight by 350M/lbs by 2010 (160k/t).
