Industrial Tests On A Cast Chrome-Corundum Refractory

Thermal shock and sulphate corrosion tests were carried out on experimental refractories of composition (wt%): 20 Cr2O3, 65 Al2O3, 13.8 SiO2, 1.2 Na2O, designated KhK-20. These, together with industrial trials in a pressed glass furnace, showed that chrome-corundum materials have advantages relative to corundum or baddeleyite-corundum refractories and can be recommended for use in port necks and superstructure.
